Now for the main band of the evening ‘The Missing Persians’. They hail from the Oxford area and are fronted on main vocals and acoustic guitar by Chris Cox, who also writes most of the material. On lead guitar and vocals is John Keston-Hole, with Chas Maguire on electric and stick bass and vocals, with Nick Clack as the rhythm keeper on drums.

They cannot be pigeon holed into one particular genre of music as their repertoire runs from blues through to reggae, with hints of jazz, Americana and funk.
They began with a great intro, ‘Old Man’s Shoes’, taken from their current album ‘The Missing Persians’. Then followed ‘Difference’ with John playing some excellent slide guitar with a hint of Americana. Playing more from their current album and some fresh new takes, the set was excellent.

Chas took on the lead vocals for a great version of ‘Sweet Gene Vincent’, proving that variety is the spice of life. The final track of the evening was ‘Move On’ which had some great drumming from Nick, – the train is coming. Some class acoustic guitar from Chris, with an extra special electric guitar solo from John completed this totally enjoyable evening from a band who have it all.

It would be great to see these guys out on the festival circuit in the New Year so festival organisers take note!
